Arizona Brings the Heat By Creating Cool Economic Solutions
Soon, many Arizonans will experience sunshine in a whole new light.
The solar industry is poised for radiant growth as the state moves forward with a standard requiring 15% of electrical production to come from renewable power.
2010 Proves to Be a Good Year For Solar
The New Year has brought exciting news about solar developments in Arizona. Below are just a few new projects that will provide cleaner air and jobs in the years to come.
- Solar power system manufacturer Amonix Inc. has announced it will build a solar manufacturing plant in Pheonix, bringing 167 jobs to Arizona. The federal Recovery Act's Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit will provide up to 30% of the facility's construction cost, allocating a total of $3.6 million to the new facility.
- Bell Independent Power Corp. was recently announced as the first tenant of the University of Arizona Science and Tech Park's Solar Zone. This 5 MW solar generation plant will be able to power 1,500 typical Tucson homes, creating 75 jobs to build the facility and 7 full time jobs to run it. It will begin supplying power to Tucson homes in 2011.
- Tower Automotive announced plans to open a manufacturing facility in the metro Phoenix area to help supply a local solar provider with parts. The project will create 200 jobs and provide parts to Scottsdale-based solar company Stirling Energy Systems.
